Welcome to our very first blog here at our brand new wonderful website courtesy of Robb Wallace Media.
We have been working on this for a few weeks now and we will continue to add to it on a regular basis to keep you updated with all things Yin Yang.
What a year we have had. We have had so many changes since last November, both personal and professional and all positive.
We have squeezed in a new baby, a proposal, planning our own big day, planned and played at over 40 incredible weddings, entertained and celebrated at 12 parties, exhibited at 12 wedding fayres, done our thing at 3 wedding band showcases, gigged 10 midnight nightclub shows, 10 rocking nights in O’Neill’s and almost 30 local gigs.
We won our very first award with Wedding Industry Experts. We had our first newspaper interview at Glasgow Girls Wedding Band Showcase featured in The Herald. We played at Wedding Services Scotland’s first Ladies Night complete with butlers, cars and cocktails that was a huge success. We also discovered the beauty of hidden gems like Balgonie Castle playing at Mr & Mrs Greig’s Wedding and were blown away by the landscaping job that brought Mr & Mrs Ross’ back garden stretch tent shabby chic wedding dream to life.
We have loved playing at events to help special causes and in memory of some special people such as Cancer Research Dances, The Annual St Andrew’s Hospice Ladies Day and Lanarkshire Cancer Care Fundraiser. The organisers of these events are nothing short of amazing, just like everyone who steps up to come along and support them, it’s been an honour to be part of these.
We also had the pleasure of entertaining at The Terex Length of Service Dance recently.
One that has stood out for us was The WebHelp UK Awards Ball at Glasgow’s iconic Kelvingrove Art Gallery. A place I visited with the kids not long before that was magically transformed in no time. Fully glammed up with Phantom of The Opera themed red crushed velvet decor, filled with the beautiful haunting voices of a full choir just before the organist announced the night had begun from the balcony and where we were surrounded by beautiful ball gowns and masked guests dancing all night. I’ll be honest, I never thought I’d say we played at an event hosted by Steve McKenna from the pre-Heart Real Radio who heard us at Louise’s Ho Down 40th Birthday Party while we donned our cowboy hats, watched her dance with Gary Barlow (‘s cardboard cut out! Ha!) after we joined in with a Bucking Bronco contest.
Seriously, this job is a dream come true. We have met so many brilliant people and been to some incredible venues all over the country. I can’t think of another job where you are always surrounded by people dancing and enjoying themselves. We were even lucky enough to be invited to the VOWS Awards Ceremony last month with some of the best suppliers in Scotland and being entertained by the excellent Jack Dames.
As you can imagine, we are a bit puffed out at this time of year. We know we need to catch our breath in time for another packed 2016 diary full of so many more exciting events and developments.
We kept our December and January as quiet as we could for the festive period and are making the most of family time and our window of opportunity to visit our own stunning wedding venue and amazing band, Lodge on Loch Lomond and Forté Beat.
Rest assured we will also use it as some extra rehearsal time and to have meetings with couples we will soon sing first dances for. Before we know it, we will be at The Confetti Awards Final on 31st of January and Wedding season will be just around the corner again.
We hope you enjoy the new website, we will be adding to it over the coming weeks.
We would like to wish everyone luck in our annual competition launched tonight…
